Depending on your perspective, this is either a joyous occasion or a sign of the apocalypse: Oprah's OWN network has announced plans to release an eight-part docuseries on Lindsay Lohan. The series, simply called “Lindsay,” is set to premiere on Sunday, March 9 at 10PM, and it's directed by filmmaker Amy Rice, who also created the doc “By the People: The Election of Barack Obama." So far, OWN has released a photo depicting a dazzling LiLo, which definitely suggests that the network aims to portray Lindsay as a capable and glamorous megastar, one who's making remarkable recoveries after her recent stay in rehab.

The network promises, “viewers will see an intimate, unflinching look into the life of one of the world's most sought-after celebrities. Cameras follow Lindsay as she returns to New York, reunites with friends and family, and attempts to build a new life. As she works to stay on track amid the demands (and pitfalls) of fame, she opens up as never before, discussing everything from her emotional recovery process to her exhausting run-ins with the paparazzi.”

Both of LiLo’s parents have shown support for the actress' most recent bid for recovery. Her dad Michael says that Lindsay has “cut the bad friends out of her life and is taking this seriously,” and Dina Lohan was enthusiastic about Oprah acting as Lindsay’s mentor (although who *wouldn't* be in favor of taking on Oprah as a mentor.) Says Dina, “If there’s any mentor you could choose, there’s nobody better than Oprah. This is a great opportunity for Lindsay.”

During an August interview with Oprah, LiLo opened up about her past struggles with her family, and her desire to get back on the right foot in Hollywood. Oprah also revealed her intentions for the docuseries, saying, “I am interested in your life being actualized in the way that you say you really want it to be. I’m really interested in seeing what that looks like. When somebody has been down and has the courage to say, ‘I’m going to keep moving forward’, and to do that in a really truthful, honest way.”

There haven't been any trailers released yet for the series, but it's clear that OWN plans to make this a doc about healing, not about salacious celebrity gossip. Will you be watching (maybe guiltily, on the sly)? Let us know in the comments.
