I Know It's Wrong, But It's Still Pretty Funny

I was intrigued by the CNN.COM headline this afternoon that read "Judge allegedly napped, made bailiff rub her feet."

But when I read on for details of the misconduct allegedly perpetrated by Las Vegas judge Elizabeth Halverson, I kinda started to think she was, well, if not awesome, definitely hilarious. Among the complaints beng leveed against her are accusations that she made her bailiff "put her shoes on her feet, massage her back, cover her with a blanket for naps and make sure her oxygen tank was filled. He says she [also] asked him, 'Do you want to worship me from near or afar?'"

Ha! Funny right? But that doesn't even come close to my favorite part of the complaint, the part in which "she allegedly had her husband sworn in so that she could ask him under oath whether he had completed chores at home."

C'mon, you know if YOU were a judge you would sooooooo wanna pull all kinds of shit like that. The difference is, Elizabeth Halverson not only IS a judge, but she actually has the ovaries to DO shit like that! It's up to you Vegas. Keep the hilarity and hijinx rolling by supporting her bid for re-election!

Warning! Not For the Squeamish...Rogue Taxidermy

One man's trash is another man's medium.

Last night I got involved in a back ally group taxidermy project in Chinatown! It was orchestrated by my bro, Nate Hill. That is me in the green sweater digging in. We gathered at a corner on Canal and then crept into an ally. Nate and his crew set up a hands-on chop shop where onlookers were encouraged to push their sleeves up, put some gloves on and play with perserved dead animal parts. Nate gathers the animals from dumpsters in Chinatown and scrapes roadkill off the road in order to cut them up, mix and match and then sew them back together. The smell is the worst part by far. I created a lil somethin somethin but while I was trying to open the mouth on a fish head it clamped onto my glove a pricked my finger. I ain't no pansy but getting bitten by a rolly polly fish head tripped me out a little.

I narrated one of Nate's Chop Chop episodes last year so I knew what I was getting into. Either way I love found object art, nasty or not!

Check out what I think is his most impressive work so far, The A.D.A.M Project.

He is also hosting a Chinatown Garbage Tour at the end of the month, dive in if you don't mind getting dirty.

More pics and even more pics of last night!

Learn more about Rogue Taxidermy here.

Gals worldwide are going B.A.N.A.N.A.'s over street-style sites and fashion blogs lately and a few issues back (Aug/Sept 07), when we featured some adorable fashion-clad ladies from across the globe, tons of readers wrote in begging us for more! While you can expect a significantly plumper portion of the mag to be dedicated to street trends in upcoming issues, I decided there are just to many budding fashionista's and fashion freaks out there that need to be exposed, and I'm using this as my platform. So I give you this, post Numero Uno, to a weekly (maybe daily) dose of style to devour...

Blog or Website: http://explodingspiders.blogspot.com

Age: 19

Location: Bronx, NY

What you're wearing: I'm wearing a cardigan I got as a hand me down from my mom, my favorite belt from goodwill, an H&M dress, H&M knee-highs, and suede wedges from my local Nine West outlet shop.

What you're currently obsessed with: Blazers from the little boys section, especially ones with brass buttons or school logos.

Item you're craving: A high waisted leather skirt and the perfect white dress for summer

What inspires your style: Fashion blogs and magazines, but I especially love taking inspiration from my favorite movies and dressing the part of how I imagine specific characters would in real life.

Your fave shop: I love Goodwill!
hot fuzz: treatment 1

So remember the blog post heard 'round the world a while ago that sent a swarm of commentors into a tizzy over a woman's right/obligation/choice to shave or not to shave her nether regions? well, in that same vein, this is the first of an on-going blogroll of updates to keep you, the readers, informed as I take the plunge and have baby bush de-fuzzed for good via laser hair removal. while i respect every gals decision on the matter (because i personally believe you should wear your hair just as you please), I was <strike>blessed</strike> cursed with very sensitive skin, and while i've tried precisely every product on the market removed bikini line hair, from depilitories to razors to waxing, my body's natural reaction is to break out in disgusting rashes and bumps, which outside of being no prettier than puke, it really hurts me. And let's just face it, while I made the personal decision to keep most of the hair there, i'm never gonna need those pesky fuckers that overstep the bikini line and billow out the side of your bathing suit. So those babies are going bye-bye for ever in hopes that I can rid myself of that nasty irratation once and for all.
More after the jump..
Though I was hesitant at first, I did as much research as I could to assure myself that I couldn't get burned or discolored and there was no chance of general debauchery...i proceeded forth. A lady of convenience, I jumped at the chance to contact Michele of Hair It Goes!--the only premiere door-to-door in-home luxury laser hair removal service. She brings the goods right to you..how fab is that?! She assured me that she lasered all her body hair 10 years ago and she's still as bare as the day she was born. (I attest to that fact, I saw it first-hand, err, on her legs that is).

For those considering it and wondering the pain level. (No pain, no gain, right?). I assure you, it's not pain free. Though in comparing it to waxing, it's a breeze. I can't really describe the exact sensation, but I liken it to plucking. Instead of a giant excrutiating rip of a wax-laden strip, it's a short little jolt (<--best word to describe it), applied with what I can only describe as a vacuum hose, that lasts 2 seconds and it's over. But when I say jolt, it's enough to make you jump a little. But like I said, very brief. And she zapped me just 2 times on each side with a voltage level appropriate for my hair type (you guessed it! Italian! dark and thick and obnoxious). You know it works because the little hairs there, which were stubble at the time, got singed. No gross burny hair smell though. So fuzzy-wuzzy wasn't fuzzy anymore was he? And though she told me that it would take at least 4 treatments to start to see results, I can already tell a little difference. I detect a few small patches where the hairs seem like they're not popping above the surface of my skin. Yay! And nooooo disgusting rashes or breakouts! Hallelujah!

Keep posted for updates after my next treatments!

And for more information about laser hair removal and Hair It Goes! visit www.hairitgoes.com
